I recently installed the newer version of Gspot on my machine and took a look at some of the infromation it provides.
One thing that I was surprised to see when rendering my video files is this information related to ffdshow:
Failed to connect output pin 0x0352968c ("stream 00") on AVI splitter to input pin 0x0392ff6c ("in") on filter 0x0200b548 ("ffdshow raw video filter") connect direct () failed. Error 0x80040207: There is no media type between these pins.

What exactly does this mean? Do I have any problems. Videos seem to play just fine using ffdshow. Is it an error in Gspot?

You have something conflicting with FFDShow on a certain codec.

Any suggestions on how I can investigate and repair this?

If you have no problems playing movies, I'd say forget it. Else, post a screenshot of GSpot, as we need to see how many ways did GSpot says there is to play your file. Then we can figure out what to uninstall.

You're right. I think I'll forget it. It seems to be a little bit of misinformation coming from the proposed codec solutions and rendering. Looking in the actual MS standard rendering section it is usually actually using a different set of codecs.
