Is there a good help page for GSpot? I'm also having problems with Mediainfo. I've downloaded it but there seems to be a lot of folders but no help about opening the movie you wan't info on.

Like most apps; top left menu "File/Open" then browse for it.
or easier; run the app and drop a file on it.

If you're just asking about opening files in either GSpot or MediaInfo, you can drag-and-drop videos onto either program's window, and the information should change (as Chris K mentioned). Also, you can add them to Windows' Send To menu, so that you would be able to right-click on a video, pick Send To > GSpot or MediaInfo, and that would open either program with the information on the video.

You probably downloaded the command line version.
There's also a GUI version of mediainfo available. See on the left at "Tools".
