I have this video. When played it seems fine. However, when I try and re-encode it using SUPER for playback on DVD, there's a major glitch in it. Besides getting tons of pretty colors, the audio gets pretty out of sync... I've tried this twice and both times it's messed up. I first hoped just my computer had a lag or something, but unfortunetly that wasn't the case.

Is there some way around this? Some other software that maybe encodes a bit better? Or maybe some setting I should try in SUPER that might fix this?

If you are going from AVI to DVD, you are in the wrong forum.

It would help greatly if you said what AVI format you have. They are many. Same with the audio.
You can use the latest Gspot to identify both. Post a screen shot and blank out the title if you like.

But if it's AVI at present, try dropping it into VirtualDub Mod and check for errors. You may have some corrupt frames or audio dropouts that could cause the sync problems.

SUPER is usually good at handling odd formats so I would suspect problems with the file.

Man my computer description was dated! I just corrected it

As for the forums...there are too many freakin forums here But yes, AVI to DVD...
    Video: DivX 3 512x384 23.98fps 906Kbps [Video 0]
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 44100Hz stereo 128Kbps [Audio 1]

Pretty old, eh? I got it around 2001 :P

I'll try those programs later on... Just what gets me is the file seems perfectly fine until I try and recode it... Obviously, I've had it this long and didn't realize anything, and I'm extreamly picky about my files(their quality, glitches, and such...)

If it messes up immediately, then it could be an incompatible file or the wrong SUPER settings. If it happens part way through, then a problem with the file. If it shows MP3 VBR audio, that's one possibility for sync problems. Otherwise the info looks normal, though you might need the DivX 3.11 codec if you don't have it. Lots of files may appear to play properly and still have a problem when you try to encode them.

I would try ConvertXToDVD or the freeware version DivxToDVD. It does a more complete job than SUPER if you want to end up with a DVD. But VirtualDub Mod would still be good to check for errors if that seems the problem.

And I'll move you to Newbie Conversion, which is the more correct forum.

If the glitch is just at one spot then just cut it out with Vdub and then encode the fle.
