Hi,
I've been trying to convert a 2 hour PAL AVI to NTSC DVD using your product. I am a registered user. The application starts off just fine (I've selected 2-pass VBR) but stops approximately 28% into the 1st pass and moves to the 2nd one which is also cut short. The conversion completes, but I get a DVD with the first 32 minutes of video/audio only.
I've converted this file with VSO DivXtoDVD with no problem and I've run this file through VirtualDub and DivXFix to check the file for problems. Both report no problem with it.
I've converted an NTSC AVI file with no problem and great results using your software. Any idea what could be wrong ?
Thanks.

I would need to see the log. Can you post it (it will be in the logs folder under where you installed SVCD2DVD)
SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

I'm out of town for the next few days, but I'll post my log Sunday if that's ok.

Here is the log produced each time I've tried to convert this PAL AVI.
Thanks,

It looks like you joined 2 AVI files and before adding the AVI to S2D? Have you tried adding the assets to a single VTS as 2 files and let S2D join them? It also looks from the log that it took 2 hours to perform 2 pases to only 28%?
These are just might (somewhat limited) observances. Chris should have some other ideas.Dwight

I will try to input both files separately, but the join is actually midway through the AVI, and not at the 32 minute mark. The join is a simple script with virtualdub that I've used many times without issue so I don't foresee problems there. Finally, since DivX2DVD processed the file with no error, I assume the join and the file are ok. Nonetheless the suggestion is a good one.
Thanks. -
Yeah, I don't really think the join is the issue either, but I've been at this long enough to realize that sometimes it's the simplest or least likely thing. Some of these AVI files we get are really questionable in the effects they have on encoders. I have some that every once in a while will cause CCE not to complete, S2D uses them just fine. They all test out with no errors at all. Another thing you might try is related to packed bitstreams, try Mpeg4Modifier on the file and see if that makes a difference (this one was actually related to over/undersizing).

Well, I ran MPEG4Modifier and selected the uncompress option. I ran the resulting file through SVD2DVD again and again, it only produced a 32 minute Mpg, except that this time, when came time to demux, it crashed with a convoluted error message.
I've officially given up on this file, having converted it successfully with DIVX2DVD. I just wanted to see if the SVC2DVD results would have been nicer.
Thanks to Jikchung for the suggestions. -
Too bad it didn't work out. As I said, MPEG4Modifier was more about over/under sizing. It has to be an undetected error in file at that point, but what I didn't get was according to your log it was taking 2 hours to get to 28%.
Did you try the unjoined files separately under the same VTS to see what that would do?Dwight

I no longer have the individual pieces, having kept the combined file only. Like I said, I give up. Although not a quitter by nature, this one is no longer worth the effort since I've since watched the converted dvd. Thanks for all of your help.
