  1. I've noticed lately that not matter which files I convert (AVI>>DVD), using various programs, the audio has a hum to it and the video is choppy. I've tried different types of media and have used the following programs;

    Conversion:
    TmpGenc
    WinAVU
    ConvertDixtoDVD

    Burning:
    Nero
    TmpGenc DVD Author,
    others.

    I have a P4 2.4Ghz Dell w/1GB of RAM running a 3Mbs DSL connection.
    Could someone please shed some light on why I've had no success recently, or something to try. I really enjoyed this a few months ago, now all I seem to be doing is making coasters.

    Thanks in advance,

    I have used ConvertXtoDVD and not had the problems you describe. Aside form installing a lot of crap on your machine, what else has changed ? have you changed media ? Do the converted files play back OK from your HDD ? What is your source material like ? Downloaded avi files can be a very hit and miss affair. Many of them are badly encoded, with too much compressions, incorrect cropping or framerates, and mp3 butchered audio. 9 times out of 10, the cause of crap conversions is crap source - garbage in, garbage out.

  3. Thanks for the reply guns1inger;

    The files, when played on the HDD are fine as AVI and VOB, it seems to be after the burn. I've even gone as far as to ensure that when I DL, convert, and burn I have no other programs running, like the early days of CD burning. I have increased the RAM recently and installed some other programs, nothing "heavy duty". I wonder if I should try it in Safe Mode, if possible.

    Have you tried different DVD media? Sounds like your burner is not hapy with the media you are using.

    Post back and let us know.
