I've just tested my LG4167B (configured as IDE master) drive's performance against my SONY DVD-ROM DDU1621 (configured as IDE slave) with some common testing softwares:

The test results shocked me because it revealed data transfer rate of my new LG drive was even inferior than my old SONY DVD drive bought years ago.
I don't know why this happened (PS: I'd updated the latest firmware to my LG drive).
Could anyone help me![]()

check to see that your drive is in DMA mode. it sounds like it's stuck in PIO mode.

Control Panel/system/hardware/device manager/<ide-channel>/properties/advanced settings

Please give as much info as possible about the hardware setup (motherboard, ide configuration, etc). The 4167B is not the best reader/ripper by no means but those timings you link to are unexplainable. I am no hardware expert but this looks to be more down that alley. Try this link

Your screenshots indicate normal setup on primary and secondary ide channels. I know Promise controllers are considered to be problematic with optical drives but that Raid Controller does not factor in since it appears to be unused. I am at a loss here - way over my head. Maybe some of the guys with more hardware experience will chime in!
Question- Are you using VIA drivers or Microsoft XP supplied???
That previous link I posted earlier had comments in that thread somewhere that advised against using manufacturer supplied drivers vs. MS supplied ones (I think). As I said - this is beyond my ability to help anymore. Good luck - maybe someone else can help further. You might have better luck posting this kind of issue over at cdfreaks.com in their hardware forum section. -
