I recently bought a portable DVD from Zellers (like Walmart, but owned by the HBC in Canada), it is called the Hype AH-PDVD01, made in China for the HBC, but I can find no information on it, so heres what I found after a brief time playing with it. It is a "Tablet" player, with just a screen and some controls on the front (it has a remote control for all controls) and the DVD itself loads and unloads through a small slot in the top (rather like a toaster) and has speakers on the front of the unit. The screen is 7", 16X9. When I turn it on I get a yellow screen that says in black letters Hype and below that Ascent. The machine will play DVDs, burnt DVDs, burnt VCDs, burnt SVCDs, burnt MiniDVs, Mpeg ISOs, divx avis, xvid avis JPEGs and MP3s (with I believe long file name support) but NOT WMA. On the side it has plugs for Power (9 VDC), Video out (Composite) and S-Video (but both are just little mic like jacks) and a plug (mic like) for Video in (Composite). It will also play PAL and NTSC DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs. So with this description can anyone tell me what this player is, who made it, and can tell me anything more about it? All in all I like it but I would like to know if there are hacks or anything for it. Thanks.
