Even after making the change so that DVD Decrypter burns the DVD, when the disk is finished I try to play it on my computer and nothing happens as if it is a blank disk. Does this mean there is a problem with my burner or my DVD disks? What could the possible problems be if its something with my DVD burner?

Have you tried playing it on a different DVD player or a standalone DVD player? It would be very unusual for all the programs you have tried using to burn with to create a blank disc without the programs showing you all kinds of errors or warnings.

If it doesn't play or it is really blank, then the burner is likely at fault. If it burns the DVD at all, the DVD can't be entirely blank, it would have something on it, even if it's not readable. Compare the bottom surface of the burned DVD to a unburned one. You should see a darker area on the disc from near the center to near the edge. If so, it has something on it.

When I put the disk into my regular DVD player it will spin around a bit and then the screen says "Unknown disk". I tried to burn some music CDs and that didn't work either. I think there might be something wrong with my burner, any ideas what that might be?

Does it happen with different types of discs??? Maybe you got a defective batch.

Also have you tried upgrading your firmware?

this happened with my mums pioneer 108 also. you could burn dvd or cd any brand and the burning software would say its burnt and all but it was really blank. i could take them home and still burn them on my computer. her burner was not set to test or anything either. and i had always put the latest firmware on her burner. her burner still READS dvd/cd fine though. bit of a bummer.

I'm not convinced discs are blank. Some systems cannot read UDF data very well. Some DVD players will not play burns. So try more equipment.

defective equiptment happens just recently send back a brand new liteon 165h6s that claimed to be making perfect discs. prassi ones and alcohol 120% both thought they were nicely turned out and they passed data verifying in the computer. only problem was, only the drive that burned them could read them.... not any standalone nor other computer drive. only took 25 coasters to figure it out. replacement drive is making discs any drive can read. chinese quality control sucks.

This happens occasionally on my Liteon 851 it will say burn completed, but is a completely blank disc when I check it visually. I repeat the process and it turns out ok. Never figured out why it does that. Either burns or nothing. No half burns. I'm just used to checking each disc visually and put down to a quirk with the burner, until I replace it. Do you Syrun ever get, or ever had a burn from your burner ?

I actually think that my DVD/CD bunner is broken. I tried to burn some CD's on my computer and the computer will say "Unknown error, cancling burning process" or something like that. One of my friends is really good with computers and he's going to look at it for me, he thinks that the wire connecting the burner is disconnected. Someone else told me that that was a common problem. I'm going to let him look at it and see if he can help. Then hopefully the DVD will burn perfectly fine. I'm hoping thats what the problem is because thats better than having to try and sort all of this stuff out with the programs.
