  1. I'm trying to copy DVD files from a VIDEO_TS folder on my HD to a DVD-RW. Why would NeroExpress give this error message: "There is not enough space to burn the compilation onto this disc" please?

If I use NeroExpress Disc Info, it reports the disc is empty, so how can it have insufficient room?!

Any anyway, why doesn't it erase (or offer to erase) first?

How big are the file size of the files from the Video_TS folder? If you are using a regular DVDR (4.7GB), then the total size of the files on that folder shouldn't exceed or should be less than 4.7GB.

Correction - 4.37 GB, if we speak computer GB (1024^3) - the figure we see in Explorer and other computer tools that show us file sizes.
    The 4.7 GB is 1000^3

  6. I've just tried making the copy from another DVD-RW (same brand, Ritek) using Copy Entire Disc. I got exactly the same message.

FWIW, from advice in a separate thread, I tried copying with DVD Decrypter (to and from the same discs as above), and that worked fine. Clear conclusion: use Decrypter, not Nero. But I would like to understand why the latter doesn't work?

Might be because the latter is crap lol

  8. Later also got same message when trying the copy in DVD Shrink. So it looks like a media issue. But that leaves the puzzle as to how Decrypter managed to do it...

You need to set dvdshrink to output the files as an iso image which you then burn with dvddecrypter ... if you set the burn option in shrink it simply sends the files to neros burn engine and so is effectively burning with nero and therefore will give you the same error

Just an aside, are you sure the RW media u are trying to copy that folder to is empty/erased?

If not, you might want to erase the media before attempting that burn.

    Cheers!

Exactly. Since I started using FUJI Discs instead of Ritek/Ridata, I have only burned one coaster and that was from trying to copy an unencrypted disc with Nero.

My remedy was to open file (disc) with DVD Shrink, choose Full Disc and Backup. The first thing I do when I install Shrink on a machine is to set it to create ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter.

  13. Thanks. Does that imply I should uncheck the option in DVDShrink Prefernces to 'Enable burning with Nero' ?

Will pick this up again on 14th April.

    Yes
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
