So when the CW comes out in the fall and the WB and UPN go the way of the dodo... what happens to the local uhf stations that carried the independent networks???
Does one become CW and the other go dark? Does the other station revert to a local non-network station? Are there plans for those stations to get bought by someone else?

WB is a VHF here, but UPN is definitely UHF (always reminds me of Weird Al's movie/song!)
I've been wondering this same thing myself.
Also, what shows get the knife and which will stay? I'm a big Smallville fan, but everything else on WB is pure shite, and I haven't watched UPN since Enterprise got the axe (with the exception of syndicated King of Queens @ 9 every nite).
I read a rumour of an Aquaman series on the CW, but I don't envision it lasting a whole season -- I mean, come on, it's Aquaman..... the least popular "super" hero ever."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

Well I think the WWE will survive UPN's transition. I'm sure a few of their comedies will switch over but other than that I don't really know what UPN has that will last.
As for WB I'm 100% certain smallville will switch over - I mean its about the only show I know they have and I don't even watch it
But they're dumping 7th heaven because the cast is too expensive. Probably a few of their one hour dramas will switch over just to fill the time. Other than that who knows? I don't really watch either network except for the local stations playing reruns on it.
But the remaining station story will be interesting.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
How does Kids WB factor into all this?

Isn't that syndicated anyway?? I mean I think I've seen that FOX BOX thing on the local WB station. Most of those cartoon things are taken by whoever foots the bill I believe.

I expect Veronica Mars on UPN will be kept. I think it's the best they've got, but that's not saying much. Lately I haven't been watching anything on WB. I've been finding reruns of the Dukes of Hazzard on CMT more interesting. (Sad, isn't it).

My wife insists on watching "One Tree Hill" on the WB. When are they going to wise up and cancel this godforesaken piece of shit! It's killing my marriage for Christ's sake!
I think the WB took a turn for the worse a long time ago when they dumped "Buffy The Vampire Slayer". It's just been one crap show after another... drama, drama, drama.... crap, crap, crap. Who gives a flyin' F what the "Gilmore Girls" are up to... whores... that's what they are. Nothin' but whores... -
UPN has reruns of The Simpsons. They'll probably keep both stations running and split up 2 different types of programming.
It's not the first time this type of scenario has happened. The programming may stay very close to the same format for another 2-3 years before they decide to do any major changing.
