I have a quicksilver g4 800 with a cdrom/burner and a zip drive, can anyone help with information i have tried a search on xlr8 with no luck, on putting a pioneer 110d in place of the cdrom/burner and replacing the zip drive for a cd/burner/dvd/rom?
Iwould like to use this mac for all my backing up.

OWC (macsales.com) has a Quicksilver installation video
in its "support" section. It is quite informative. Plus they'll
    sell you a 110 for $53.

Do you mean physically installing the drive or getting OS X to detect it?

Is actually looking at the OWC web site considered cheating?

The zip bay is smaller than a regular CD/DVD drive, so a replacement drive won't fit there without bending and/or removing other metal parts.

Thanks for your help, I swapped the cd burner with the pioneer 110D and everything works fine all the i apps recognise the drive but the region code only lets me change regions four more times, which is a bummer as I have DVDs from all different regions, as for the zip drive I dont mind modifying the case bur what about the cables/connections????

I thought you can rip discs with MactheRipper without having to change the region on your optical drive.

  9. There is region free [RPC1] firmware (and also a means to turn on the Ram-writing capabilities of the 110D (turning into a region free 110). Check here:

    http://tdb.rpc1.org/#DVR110D

You will want the 1.39 version

    Use DVRFlash to install firmware.
