  1. Recently tried it since upgrading to AIW 7500 and MMC 9.02, older versions and card gave framerate of 24.1xx, not sure if this was precisely consistent. Decent results, occassional noticable jerkiness, only slightly worse than any of the several software IVTC's I tried.

New version, however, is damn near perfect. Three movies so far, from Satellite premium channels. All had FPS of 23.976, no visible errors. Frame analysis shows no interlacing artifacts.

Definitely seems to be bitrate sensitive, results not as good with medium range bitrates, AVG 4 to 7. FPS consistent at 23.976, however some jerkiness on playback and artifacts visible on frame analysis. Max bitrate CBR encodes appear to be perfectly IVTC'd. Using both MPG and VCR files.

Started this thru interest in XVID re-encodes, with subtitles. Hence the VCR file type. XVID re-encode definitely enhanced thru the Progressive source

FWIW, have had great results from digital cable at 480 x 480, but not so great at 720. Have you been using 9.13? Has some interesting stuff but hi bitrate capture seems really flaky on my syst. -- after ~ 35 - 45 min display and capture goes in surges... would actually be quite funny if I hadn't been trying to capture. Went back to earlier version & everything's cool again, though latest drivers don't play as nice with older version of MMC. (Yeah, know I shouldn't mix & match )

  3. Sorry for late reply, been busy lately.

I am always loathe to update MMC unless the new version offers something I really want, and I have read some bad things about the latest versions. Think I will wait a while. Ain't ATI fun?

Previous IVTC tests were made with various MMC 7.x versions, did not try it much with 8.x. Results seemed consistent across the board, SVCD, CVD, 720x480, etc. I am absolutely certain I Never got a perfect 23.976 until 9.02.

From some of your posts, I gather you and I have followed very similar paths. Do you happen by any chance to be familiar with the ANSI 837 spec?

Also, are you currently capturing AC-3 sound? If so, how and what hardware, software, etc?
