I have a letterboxed movie on VHS that I would like to preserve on DVD (it isn't available on DVD).

But I would like to do so as a 16:9 DVD.

How do I crop / resize the capture in order to preserve the aspect ratio?

What resolution / aspect ratio / pixel aspect ratio should I use when preparing the video for DVD authoring?

    Any software suggestions?

    Please advise,

    -Tchail

  2. Capture 720x480. Crop 60 lines off the top and bottom. Enlarge the remaining 720x360 back to 720x480 (be sure to use an interlace aware resizing function if it's interlaced). Encode as 16:9 MPEG2 for DVD.
