ok first of all i'd like to say hello. My little problem is this i have 2 avi files which is one film im trying to make it into a dvd im using divx2dvd but how is it possible to join all the vobs together i numberd each one but on doing this i seem to be missing parts of the film. how, what is the best way to do it. i can do single files ok but not when there are 2 and need to be joined together programes i have so far is divx2dvd and dvdsanta which takes hours to do(4 hours and that was just one file) and that still didnt work out right. Please if anyone can show me what software to use and to be so kind as to explain how to get over this little problem thank you in advance..

Hmm, read your post twice and can interpret it more than one way.
If by joining VOBs you mean make it one MPEG, try Vob2MPEG. But I don't think that's what you meant.
OTOH, if you mean putting both parts of the movie on one DVD, you can:
1) Load both parts in divx2dvd, convert, done. It will author the files for you, all you gotta do is burn it.
2) Take separately converted files and add them in proper order in something like TDA. Use "Add DVD-Video" and make each one a separate titleset.
Joining AVIs can be a pain, and there's no need to do so. If that didn't answer your question, then give more details please.Pull! Bang! Darn! -

thanks what does make each one a separate titleset mean does that mean renumbering the vob files i think thats the ones. My standalone dvd player wont play avi only vcd svcd and of course dvd i can do a single avi with no problems it becomes a pain when there are 2. thanks for getting back to me -
NO, you need to read up on "Authoring" over there <--. DVD-Video is just (DVD compliant) MPEG2 put in a structure that your settop player can recognise and play. Also menu capability, blah blah, but essentially, that's it. Authoring creates that structure.
Almost all authoring programs will accept elementary streams, that is, separate audio and video. Many will accept MPEGs. Some, like TDA, will accept already authored DVD-Video.
In an authoring program like TDA, easiest just to add separate titlesets. You specify firstplay action, also what is to be done after a title is played. Simply have it play all, straight through, and you'll never notice that it was in two parts. For goodness sake, don't try to renumber VOBs, you're bound to fail.
I get the impression you'd be best served with TDA, as it's quite easy and reasonably capable. Or, if you don't want to spend any money, add both parts of the movie in divx2dvd, and do them both at once. Good luck.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
thank you how silly do i feel now, didn't realise divx2dvd can do 2 files together, just done a film using divx2dvd the 2 files then became 1 then using tmpge dvd author burned the dvd apart from the slight pause as it jumps from 1 file to the other it works great, is it best to change to an iso then burn to disc or dont it matter. thanks for your time and being so helpful.

I was a little pressed for time yesterday and my answers were perhaps not totally clear.
If you're getting into video as a hobby, TDA is well worth having. If, OTOH, you're just converting some AVIs, you don't need it, as divx2dvd can author for you, although there is no menu creation capability.
The "gltch" you see is almost certainly the result of the AVI being split somewhere besides a keyframe. Or there is a slight overlap between the two parts. Not an authoring problem, as separate titles should play pretty much seamlessly. DLed AVIs often have things wrong with them. But no matter...
ISOs are convenient, many here do it that way, including me. But no, not a biggiePull! Bang! Darn!
