Hello everyone, I'm using dvd shrink to strip away the main movie of cast away, but i'm having problems with the audio not playing. If I click on each individual dvd .vob file with my power dvd player program there's no sound, but if I play the movie from the beginning with all .vob files listed the sound works fine. Now back to shrink, I,ve added all the sound tracks in config. just to see, and no sound at all from main movie. I started out with just ac3 5.1 but of course no sound with that either. The menus, extras, and other stuff plays with in the preview of shrink, but the main movie continues to have no sound what so ever. Does anyone know why?
Thanks

Hmm.... I wouldn't worry about the preview too much on your harddrive.
Just choose the main movie with the 5.1 audio. Backit up then burn the movie. You should have no problem.
You might not have the audio codecs working properly. Also sometimes I've noticed playing vobs on a harddrive can behave oddly. I've seen it where the foreign language track will play but I can't switch to the main language even if its showing as an option.
But just back it up and burn and you should be fine to play it on a regular dvd player.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I have all the codecs required, and this is the only dvd that has given me a problem as far as this goes. If I go ahead and backup the dvd through shrink and then burn it. I get a dvd with no audio and thus created another coaster. Let me go over this again incase I've confused you up top. I open shrink, I go to reauthor and then drag main movie over. From there I hit play for preview, and there is no audio. Keep in mind if I back it up and burn it I have no audio for the final product. Now what is wierd is if I go to the dir my ripped dvd is in and play any of the .vob files alone for the movie, it plays, but with out sound. Now if I tell power dvd to play the dvd in file mode and click on the video_ts.ifo file to play the whole movie there is sound. I'm not sure why shrink is losing the audio for this dvd. Have your or anyone else who reads this have had the same problem before with cast away or any dvd in general? Thanks all
ps. I've tried to back up the whole dvd also with the menu and all, and the same happens, no audio for the main part, but the menu and adds you get has sound, but once it's time for the movie theres no sound. Also I've tried it with all audio sources checked just incase it's needing another audio source. Please help me figure this out lol, it's driving me nuts. -
If anyone knows please let me know because this is hounding me, and if no one here knows i'll prob be able to find the answer on another movie forum. Thanks

As far as I know I'm pretty sure that when you preview a movie in dvdshrink reauthor mode that there is no audio to hear, there is not supposed to be, all you have to do is encode movie only to hdd and then play it thru powerdvd or whatever and the sound should be fine, or burn it to disc and it should also be fine. Well for me, all movies in shrink play in preview with sound whether it be in full back up mode or reauthor except the movie cast away that i'm having problems with.
