  1. Hi...I have backed up some DVDs using DVDDecrypter and VobMerge and now I want to write them on another DVD in Long Play mode so I have all three films together.

I have managed to get Nero to add the films to my DVD Project but I get messages saying I need the plug-in and when I go to play the movies (to test them out before burning) I have no audio whatsoever.
This copy of Nero was on my PC when I bought it and I upgraded the standard OEM software via there site but it looks like they want me to part with more cash to get a full working product...is this correct? or am I just doing something wrong.

I have looked at the prices and I really don't want to fork out £30 for software I feel I should already have...can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong or if I really have to buy an upgrade that might not work anyway...

PS- I have done a little editing on and off but am not completely an expert so please explain slowly...thanks

  2. Please could someone help...I was also wondering how I could convert the file to AVI as I have successfully put those type of files on a DVD with Nero before. I tried SUPER but I don't know what settings to change/keep to get the best results (plus when I tried this route before it took a long time (about three hours) and it still hadn't completed, I had to abort)
    Any advice would be brilliant,

    3 hours is not a long time to re-encode 3 DVD's.
If Nero is asking for a £30 plug-in, then don't use Nero.
    This might help -

  4. sorry..I should have been a little clearer...that three hours for just one VOB file, not all three and as I said I had to abort cause it was just taking too long.
I am gonna take a look at that link now...but I would still like to know what settings to use for converting VOB's to AVI's in SUPER. I have managed to convert to 3GP absolutely fine but AVI takes forever and I am not sure what results I am going to get with the settings I am using.
    Thank you,

  5. OK...I downloaded and installed DVD Shrink (and read the guide) but I no longer have these DVD's and no .ifo file for them so this program is not going to work. It will be ok for future backups though (I hope)
Does DVD Shrink work well with Nero 6 even though I don't have this audio plug-in?
I think I might have to go via the AVI route so any good tips or hints on other free, fast encoding programs would be really good.
    Thank You,
