  1. Hello, any divx tv show I download results in the audio being out of sync when I play them in my dvd player. I am using a Philips dvp 642 player with the lastest firmare. I also unpacked the file using mpeg4modfier.

Is there something I'm missing. Is there any software that can fix the audio problem? Thanks.

I don't think anyone will be able to help you much without a GSpot of one of these files. https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=271697 might assist you with this.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Here is a screen shot of gspot. Did I get the right info? How do I fix the audio prob, I have never used gpot before. Thank you for your time.

It's likely MP3 VBR audio is your problem, as it is with many, many, many, videos off the net. Drop it into VirtualDub and extract the audio as a WAV. If you use VD Mod, use jimmalenko's guide: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=280779

I've got the feeling we need to make this a sticky. Must come up about 5 times a week.

or you can try using virtual dub MP3Freeze. It works for VBR MP3's

  6. Thnnks for the replies. I downloaded v1.6, the guide applies to v1.5, this is where I get confused, on jimmalenko's guide it says under "streams" -> hit "stream list" but in v1.6 there is no stream list? What do I do?

  7. Go to File > Save WAV in version 1.6
When I was born I was so shocked that I could'nt speak for 18 months.

  8. Hello, I extracted the wav file and saved it. Is there anything else I need to do?

I normally use VD Mod, but with VD 1.6:

It's easiest to leave VD open after you extract the WAV, but if not, start it again and select your Divx.

Then under 'Audio', select 'WAV Audio' and point it to the extracted audio, then click 'Full processing mode'.

Now you will see 'Compression' available at the top of the list. Click that. Scroll down the list to 'MPEG Layer-3'. Click that. Select '48k Bit/sec. 24.000 Hz. Stereo'. (Or similar to your original audio. You can check that in 'File'>'File Information'.) Click 'OK'.

Now in 'Video', select 'Direct Stream Copy'. Then in 'File', 'Save as AVI'. Make a new name if you don't want to overwrite you original file just yet.

This will mux (combine) your new CBR audio with your original video and replace the problematic VBR audio and you should be ready to go. The filesize will be slightly larger as CBR is not as compact as VBR.

If you still have sync problems, then there is some other problem with the audio or video, but this fixes the VBR problem.

It will be worthwhile to learn a little more about VirtualDub. It has a 'thousand' uses. I use VD Mod as it will accept MPEG video.

  10. Redwudz I downloaded virutal dub mod 1.5. DO I still do the same steps for your instruction for v1.6 or is it differento

  11. It looks from the screen shot you supplied like the problem is with Lost, which I believe is out on DVD now. I'd be tempted to just go out and buy it, personally.

  12. Redwudz, I played the Lost episode I tried to fix, but the video played and there was no audio. I now have Vmod 1.5, can you tell me how to merge the wav file with the video? Thank you for your time.
