  1. When I use VDub to join to AVI clips together I usually use the MPeg 4 Low Motion codec to compress the video. The result is very blocky and I get large areas that can be very hard to watch, especially in frames that have dark environments. Is there anyway around this?

I notice that on clips that have been d/led that look perfect, for example a 2 cd film each around 700 Megs. I want to be able to get perfect joins of these clips that look every bit as clear as the two original files. When I join these clips without compression the picture is great but the file size is monsterous! Surely these clips must have been compressed with some sort of tool in order to get the file size of each cd down to 700 Megs.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as a solution to this is concerned.

    Many thanks in advance.

If the clips are the same then you should be able to set the audio and video to 'direct stream copy.' This will save it as-is with no recompression. Faster too.

  3. I have tried that before but the end result is a huge file - instead of being the 1.4 Gigs (2x700 Megs) as you'd expect! I'll try it again and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply - I'll let you knpow how I get on!

You did it wrong. You probably saved in Full Processing Mode as uncompressed RGB.

Jagabo - You are correct - I was doing it the way you said, although I wasn't aware I was!

Also, as ZippyP said it takes 3 mins instead of an hour!
