Hi, I use my Sony DV to take lots of videos. I would like to transfer them into the DVD+-R disc because I have stored too many DV tapes. The Sony video editing software is poor. My laptop is an Intel Celeron M Processor 360 Notebook with 512 MB DDR memory. Can you recommend the easy and reliable video editing software so that I can transfer my DV tape pictures into the DVD disc? Thanks.

Keep in mind that the archive quality is best with DV tape or DV format stored as data on DVDR (20min per DVDR). Keep your important material in DV format.
3 Quick and easy ways to author DV format files to DVD if you want to edit before authoring:
Sony Vegas Movie Studio*
ULead Video Studio*
Adobe Premiere Elements*
If editing isn't a priority, transfer to the computer with WinDV and use a reasonable low cost DVD authoring package:
ULead DVD Moviefactory*
TMPGEnc + DVD Author
CCE-Basic + an authoring program like DVD-lab
Many ways to skin the cat.

My method is WinDV for the transfer, then edit and filter if needed with VirtualDub Mod after adding the Panasonic DV codec. Extract out the audio as a WAV, convert the WAV to AC3 with ffmpeggui.
Then I frameserve the video to TMPGEnc encoder from VDM. This saves from having an intermediate edited file and saves hard drive space. After TMPGEnc converts the file to MPEG-2, I use this, along with the AC3, in TMPGEnc DVD Author, author and burn the DVD. Adjust the bitrate in TMPGEnc encoder to make allowances for the AC3 size, and about 200Mb that the authoring program uses, to keep the DVD size enough to fill the disc.
There are many other ways, but this works fine for me.
