I;ll be honest, I have had no luck finding any documentation on this format.

I know there is a viewer for the computer, but I cant even find that.

I would like to know how to convert these to DVD.

has anyone here had the experience doing that?

Do you think it would look as good as a retail DVD?

another thing to note is that my standalone is an LG that has HDTV upconversion and plays divx, so if I can convert the .TS to any .avi file that will work too

I am gracious for any assistance

It will look like the HDTV 14-19Mb/s version of a much higher datarate network feed. If you down res it to 720x480, the retail DVD probably looks better. They were working from a much better master.

If you down res to 720x480 and then upscale the result is likely to be poor vs. a retail DVD. There are many steps to getting this right.

Do one and see if you think it is worthwhile to do another.

I mainly save raw demultiplexed clips of MPeg2 in HD format (30min per DVDR). Sometimes I'll try to compress that further but I rarely have the time to waste.

after doing some googling I found this discussion on this site:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t269743.html

it suggests autogk for xvid, and hdtvTOMpeg2.

I am going to try all three.

I am not sure if my LG will recognize DoblyDigital when reading Divx, or Mpeg2. Its a realy nice player, reads all avi, mpeg, and I think mp4.

Since we are on the subject is there a way to use your PC as a HD source for your high def TV? My current video card has a DVI-D(digital port) which is what tv's use. I could get a HDMI-DVI-d cable.

If it works I could be two years ahead of affordable Blueray!?!?!

    thanks again

hdtvTOMpeg2 is great for demultiplexing to the stream you want.

I use the ATI 9xxx component analog adapters to HDTV and play out MPeg2, DivX/XVid and WMV out to 1080i. The ATI Theater 200 chips rescale to 1080i (or 720p) in realtime.

That comes in third after HD cable box and progressive DVD. Depends on your HDTV, it's native resolution and what it will accept. My computer monitor wins for resolution.
