    The only answer I have is if VCD must be encoded as CBR or it can be encoded as VBR. In the last case, can it be played on standalone players ?

  2. ive read that vbr was on the table to go into vcd spec. but didnt make it.. a true vcd is cbr

    it is, however, in mpeg-1 spec so it can be used. your dvd will take it if your lucky. nero took it without complaining oddly. according to a bitrate calculator it averaged about 1900. i made it using tmpgenc

    to see if it will work on yuir player run a test on a small clip (cdrs are cheap)
