using sony vegas 6d, avi files that are 23.97fps have a stutter effect whether playing or editing. yet avi files with 29fps play and edit fine.

anyone familiar with this issue? what can i do to those 23fps files to get them to 29fps without messing them up (video and audio). any programs i can convert them/re-encode?

What are your project settings ?
What is the end game for the video ? (DVD ?)
Are you mixing 23.976 and 29.970 fps footage when editing ?

project settings are NTSC standard, it will be DVD is what I will try to convert too. Yes I am mixing the two .. but it happens with even just 1 file at 23fps .. just dragging it into the timeline and playing it back stutters. Yet playing the file outside the sony works fine.

Best to set a 23.976p project. Edit 23.976p and then encode to a progressive DVD.

    Why convert first to 29.97?
