  1. Hi, im making up a compilation of tv episodes that i have on 5 vcd's onto 1 single dvd-r and ive hit a problem
I followed the guide on this site and all seemed well, i managed to burn the disc fine and it loads up and will play on my standalone dvd player.

    Basically heres whats up

The vcd's i have are 3 episodes on each disc, but each vcd contains only 1 avseq.dat
So i converted each avseq.dat to .m1v and mpa files and imported each individually into spruceup so i had 5 diferent .m1v showing in the left column.
I then set 3 chapter points for each .m1v made up the menu with buttons using screenshots from the episodes and burned it to dvd-r.

The problem is that if i start watching the dvd-r from the first episode
the it will play through 3 episodes but when the third episode ends the player returns to the screen i see when i first power it up rather than continuing with the 4th episode.
I can then hit menu on the remote and choose the 4th episode and it will play the next 3 fine but when it gets to the end of episode 6 the same thing happens.
I know this isnt a major problem but its annoying and im sure that one of you experts here will be able to easily tell me how to fix this.
    Any help very greatfully received
    cheers

SpruceUp apparently will always return to the menu after each MPEG plays (in your case, a string of three episodes). You'll need a professional-level authorware so you can tell it to immediately jump to the next MPEG without returning to the menu first.

  3. Thanks for the reply antnymd , any suggestions of a program i should look for then?
Or is their an easy/quick way that i could join the 5 .m1v/.mpa into 1 mpeg?
I know i could probably use tmpgenc to multiplex them back into the 5 mpegs then use merge/cut to create 1 mpeg but what settings to use, wouldnt that take ages?
    Cheers

Merging files is pretty quick, but you may find the audio will quickly go out of sync (not good!). I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions on PC DVD professional authorware, as just as I was learning how to author DVDs on a PC mine died for the last time, and I got fed up and switched to Mac, where I use Apple DVD Studio Pro.

  5. DVD Maestro is an excellent package (it's the big brother of SpruceUp). It allows you to do almost anything, and it isn't too hard to learn.

  6. Thanks for the help guys.
I thought i would try again but this time i ripped each vcd to 1 mpeg then joined them into one using merge in tmpgenc.
Checked them on my pc and didnt appear to be any audio sync problems.
Trouble now is that when i try to convert the .mp2 file im getting an error message-
An error occured when audio is decoded.
Any ideas how to get round this or about what is causing it?
    Cheers
