Sony Vega 6.0a Sharpen Feature Question

I've been trying to add a touch of sharpening on a video clip inside Sony Vegas 6. Each time I attempt to use the sharpen feature the video becomes more blurred. It acts like a blur feature than a sharpen feature. I'm doing everything that I am supose to do but the image gets more blurred than sharper.

Can someone please tell me how to get the sharpen feature to work?

FWIW, I'm a huge Vegas fan, but you'll likely have better & much faster results sharpening with V/Dub or Avisynth or perhaps V/Dub plugins in Vegas (see debugmode).
