  1. Explain this one for me folks ...

I have two video files. One has AC3 audio and one has PCM. Fine. I usually use dvdsanta to convert and normally works fine. I converted both with santa, used dvd author to author, then copytodvd to burn both on the same dvd. The AC3 audio didnt work but the PCM one did. Strange. Changed audio settings on my dvd players and nothing. I did the same procedure with each file ALONE on a dvd and they both worked. Thats odd. tried them both again on the same dvd, the AC3 audio one dont work again.

    What up wit' 'dat?

I don't know exactly what DVD Santa does when it converts (personally, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole), however if it puts both videos in a single titleset then it is breaking the DVD spec in a way that would stop many players from playing the audio correctly. Basically, all titles in a titleset must have the same audio format.

Look in the Video_TS folder and tell me what IFO files you see.

  3. Once I made a mistake to put two video clips with different audio in one titleset with GFD. DVD Author creates two audio tracks . One has sound in corresponding format only for the first clip and silence for the second. The other has silence for the first and sound for the second. It was a bit funny.

It has created two titlesets - so far, so good.

What audio format did it use for the LPCM file ? The latest (2.52) version of g-spot should be able to tell us this.

    0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3

  11. Lets try this ...

  12. Well, this a xvid encoded video with mp3 VBR audio in avi container. Nothing unexpected. Obviously it is not ac3.
Many encoders have problems with mp3 VBR.

  13. Sorry ... havent been around for a couple of days.

That was the PCM file. That file dvdsanta worked through fine.

This is the AC3 file that has no volume

  14. Hello again,

Still having problems with an AC3 file. I have posted a screen shot again.

I have coverted it and when I try and load it into tmpgenc to author, an error saying "cant initialize the decoder."

I viewed the sticky for tmgenc problems. The only thing that stood out to me was to install the AC3 filter, which I did. But still no dice.

    Any ideas?

Are you trying to load it in tmpgenc or tmpgenc DVD author ?

One is an encoder, the other authors DVDs.
