  1. Hello, i've been having problems with capturing DV, i got a new motherboard and new memory modules. I was able to capture with my previous motherboard perfectly.

Now, when I connect my firewire cable to my DV camera and open WinDV( I also tryed Video Vegas, Movie Maker), and put the camera on playback, then i get BSOD and an error like: "Hardware Malfunction, Call your system vendor etc, System has halted.", I have a firewire card and it has worked without any flaws with my previous motherboard( Epox 4BDAE, now I have Abit VT7 ).

I also searched for answers in google, somebody recommended to switch the firewire card PCI slot, it didn't help. I also ran memtest86 for 30min, and it didn't give any errors. So could anybody help me a bit here ?

I am also having the exact same problem. I have ECS PT800CE-A motherboard, running kingston 1GB 3200 Ram, WinXp sp2, GEForce FX5200 128 MB video card. I have a Texas Instruments OHCI firewire card and a JVC GR-D250 mini DV.

I have made some tweaks and actually can run a capture program for a few minutes then my computer just locks right up or it will still do the system halted thing depending on what program I use to capture.

I have hunted all over the net trying to find this problem. I hope someone has an answer to this.

It seems no one has an answer for this. I have finally tried it on another computer I have and all works great now. The other computer is a 2 Ghz with a Gigabyte mobo, ATI 256mb video card and 1 GB ram.
I am guessing my problem is with the mobo itself on my computer or the video card maybe.
