Are there profiles or "settings" that will enable the same MPEG-4 video file to be played on a Video iPod and a PSP?
I found this thread:
https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=284480
It is somewhat helpful... but can anyone tell me more about the "atom changer"???
I am trying to learn the specifics but most info I find:
a) Only addresses one of the two formats (iPod or PSP)
b) Says to use certain tools to encode (PSP Video 9, OR "select encode for iPod in QT Pro etc)
I can't find the explainations of what these tools are truly doing - that is my issue!
I am planning on running my own samples/tests ASAP and am looking for answers before I start.
I have a PSP, and either have to buy a Video iPod or find one to borrow - hopefully this weekend.
Any help or advice - or links to info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone! (or anyone!)

OK - I have an iPod now - bought it <bad sarcasm> like the "playa" I am. </bad sarcasm>
I am having more trouble trying to navigate the iPod than imagined. I drag my own created test files to the iPod through the hard drive view.. and the same folders don't even appear through the actual iPod interface.
Do my test files need to have an .xml wrapper or something?
I know it plays video because I can play other files that I have downloaded specifically to test with... but they were specified "for iPod"... so I am suspecting there is some xml issue?
Again - feeding the noob is greatly appreciated. -
iPod's require an iTunes generated database to access files. They don't access them directly.
I believe RockBox now has a working G5 audio driver so you could install RockBox, then you can just drag files. You would have to boot Apple's firmware for video playback though.
Basically you need to use iTunes or equiv to add your files.
