Can these be used to movies so long as they are under the size of 1.46/1.47
I got a few shows from Archive.org that are longer than 30min but smaller than 1.47gb ( like 400mb and some little larger ) but all are longer than 30min.
Rather than have some not fit on CD-R and have to waste a DVD-R, can I put them on these mini discs? I have a Philips DVP-642 so keeping in AVI format on these little discs would be perfect.

Can they be used like this or are they strictly for camcorders only?
If I can do this, any help on brand and where to get?

The Mini DVD discs work fine in a standard DVD burner. Most buring software supports the capacity as well. But you won't save any money this way. Mini DVDs cost more than standard size.

So if I have say a 700mb AVI that is 1hr 15min long, I can put it on a mini DVD-R and play it fine on my Philips DVP-642 ?

I only have a few of these movies and though I could set them all on a DVD-R 4.7gb disc, I wanted to keep them seperate. Some will fit on a CD-R, but a couple will not.But rather than waste a DVD-R 4.7 ( which I know are cheap as dirt now, but the fact that all that space gets wasted bothers me for some reason ) I wanted to put them on these small discs.

The Philips DVP-642 has a mixed reputation for AVI (XVID or Divx) compatibility. If yours plays your AVI files OK on standard discs, it will work fine with the Mini DVD discs as well.

    Great, thanks for the info!

Are there any specific types or are they all the same?
I found these here, www.meritline.com/minidvdr.html and I see a few different types.Brand is not an issue for me, but why the small size difference?
I see 1.46 and 1.47 Does this make any bit of difference at all other than the small size added?
