I bought the LG GSA 4567B, this is later version of the 4165B, but from my initial use, and burning it seems to pick up on the advertised speed of media, in some cases exceeding this. And at the price £34.00 (UK) I felt it was worth it.

  6. I'm thinking of getting one, too. Newegg has an oem GSA-4167B for $44.

Can any of you guys tell me how to use bitsetting with this drive? I currently have a Liteon 411s, to use bitsetting I open a dvd bitsetting utility, query the drive, and change the bookmark...which sets it for the duration of the session. This makes it possible to use the writing software in TMPGenc DVD Author, Ulead VideoSTudio and others besides Nero.

Is this how it is done with the LG? Can it be set permanently?

The 4168B also does Liightscribe discs but I've been wondering where else they can go with these burners since they seem have hit the limit with features. Time for Blu-Ray and HDD-DVD burners next...

It seems Benq has the most firmware updates than any other brand of dvd manufacturers that I know of.

why not post your question at the LG FORUM and see what you can come up with. i'm sure you'll get some answers from there than in here.

  16. Hi, has anyone tried burning -R DL media (Ritek/Ridata in particular) on this drive yet? If so any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty desperate to know this asap as I purchased the new Pioneer DVR110D from newegg a few weeks ago and it does EXTREMELY poorly with -R DL and I'm looking to exchange it for another multi-format burner with more of a promise.

    Thanks.

NewEgg has the LG GSA 4167B on sale this weekend for $42.99. I bought one to replace a dead DVR-110 for someone.

I've had mine for a few months, bought it from newegg. I was surprised at how light it was, but it has performed fairly well so far. I really only burn DVD+R's and +RW's. The +R's I use are always Verbatim. That's what is on sale at Sam's Club Anyway, they are also good discs. I bought it for the bitsetting capability, but found out after buying it that it only does bitsetting for the +R's and NOT the +RW's. Owell. Other than that, it really works very well. It can burn my CD-R's and RW's too. I have not tried a DVD-RAM in it yet, but others on the forum say it works ok. It has worked with the TMPGEnc DVD Authoring tool, and Nero so far. Anyway, I would recommend it overall as being a fairly decent component. I have not really put it through the ringer yet, but it does almost everything I wanted it to do.
