Hi, I am a new to this forum and need some tips. My problem is this:

I have a series of DivX-AVI movies with two audio tracks. With VLC, I can watch the movie on the computer with either audio track turned on. To playback the same movies on a desktop DVD player, I burn the movies as DVD-Video using Titanium Toast 7 (Mac). Now, when I playback the DVD, both audio tracks come on and I can't choose to turn one off.

How do I specify which audio track I want when burning to DVD?

First - does it have two tracks, or different audio in the left and right channels ?

If it is two tracks, you need to create two tracks when authoring. I don't know toast, so I don't know if it can do this. If it can't, you will have to kill one of the tracks before running it through Toast. Again, not a Mac person, so I can't help you with a specific application.

If there is different audio in the left and right channels, as sometimes happens, you will have to demux the audio, copy one channel over the other, then put it back before running through toast, Again, can't help you with software.

Maybe you should get the mods to shift this to the Mac forum.

Thanks for your reply and yes, it does have different audio tracks on the left and right channels.

I'll try to repost in the Mac forum to see if I'll get more responses.

AFAIK, no DVD player plays (or even can play) 2 audio tracks simultaneously. Something has gone wrong in the conversion from AVI to DVD - Possibly the tools used doesn't support AVI with multiple audio streams?
I'm not that familiar with the Mac side of things, but in Wondows World, not many tools support more than 1 audio stream in AVI nether for playback nor reencoding.

    Hi Mats,

Thanks for your reply too. To clarify some issues:

First, the DVI was played back using VLC and I could use the left and right channels to determine which audio track to accompany the video.

Secondly, I believe what happened in the course of burning to DVD is that, the two audio tracks have been treated as one. Perhaps Toast Titanium 7 on the Mac doesn't quite support this feature when burning DivX-AVI to DVD-Video.

    I think that's a very probable theory.

I know this is the long way around, but you could use DivX Doctor II to convert the file to a QuickTime movie. Possibly this would give you the two tracks in a way that will play jointly or, you can use QuickTime Pro to select which track to disable. Then have Toast make your DVD.

Hi, thanks for all the replies.

Of course, I guess I also have another solution, ie. to go out and buy a DVD player that can playback DivX movies directly.

Usually the both best and most time effective solution, yes! Just lacks one ingredient: The challenge!

Unless you encounter MKV/OGM/MP4 files or AVIs with special specs, like custom AR, QPEL, GMC, etc. Then you're back to conversion mode once again.

Of course. But every conversion not done, is time and efforts saved for higher purposes.
