  1. I'm sure a few people out there are familiar with VideoLAN and their VLC but it's worth a few words.
I've tested this player on several different OSes
with every file type I could find. so far, It plays every flavor of Divx, Mpeg, audio(pc & mac),
dv, digital broadcast, DVD VCD SVCD XVCD miniDVD.
It also streams video and audio over any network, loads on every OS i've ever heard of and the best part, its free.

    check it out at www.videoLAN.org

  5. VideoLAN is a great media player in it's own rite. You don't have to stream it over a network.

I'm curious - I was comparing VLC to MPC and MPC gave a better picture with less pixelation. In fact MPC appears to be the ONLY player that has as good a picture as it does. Anyone know why? I would like to use VLC, but the picture is the most important part.

  9. VLC has lots of settings and filters. Perhaps the answer is in setting those up.

Just to add. Remember VLC is freeware. Some very dedicated people have kept this software free and upgraded. Take a Little time to thank them and encourage them to continue with their work. They will appreciate the feedback.

Freeware programs are endangered species. Encourage them.

True. And the same comment applies. Send them a positive comment and they will greatly appreciate it.

VideoLan has so many options and settings that I've never explored them all. It does a lot of things. It also runs on other platforms besides Windows. How often do you see a freeware program that does that?
