Hi,
According to my recently acquired edition of Prem 6, the MPEGs it produces have two 'streams' - one for the vid (*mpg) and the other audio (*wav).
Up to now I've only used Pinnacle's Studio 7 to create MPEGs for DVDs, which outputs a single file. What gives - are there two possible MPEG formats? Every DVD I've so far burnt has used the single format DVD compatible MPEG.
Can anyone explain how to use this 'two stream' MPEG Prem. 6 produces? (I burn with TMGPenc DVD Author)
Do later versions of Prem and Prem Elements output a single MPEG, as Studio does, or do they maintain this 'two stream' format?
Thanks.

add mpg in tmpgenc dvd author and then select the wav as audio source.

Thanks, Baldrick.
Clearly the 'two stream' format is fine for TMPGenc Author.
Out of interest, do later versions of Prem./Prem Elements keep to that format or do they switch to the single file MPEG? -
Programme Stream or System Stream : single file, usually with the extension .mpg or .mpeg. Combined audio and video multiplexed together.
Elementary Stream : Seperate audio and video streams, stored in seperate files. Extensions for video include .mpv, .m2v. Extensions for audio are usually format dependent, eg. .mpa, .mp2, .ac3 etc.
Most reputable encoders will output elementary streams or programme streams. Most decent authoring software will accept both, although some prefer elementary streams and will demux programme streams. Some demux in the background when compiling.
In many environments, elementary streams suit the workflow better as audio will be processed and encoded seperately to video using different applications.Read my blog here.
