I'm still on VS6 but I'm sure this method is still valid.
    For FadeIn/Out
One of the transition filters is called Crossfade. Use this in combination with a Black Color.
FadeIn - Put Black on timeline, then video, then use crossfade between them.
FadeOut - Put video on timeline, then Black, then use crossfade between them.

Media Studio Pro is a very much grown up version. It is more akin to Premiere or Vegas.

Try using the "HELP" tab while in the software. That was how I learned to use Studio 7. I can't give you the answer off had, as I switched to Vegas about a year ago and haven't used the Ulead since.

Again, I'm still on VS6 so YMMV, but for cutting out sections you don't want, technically you can't, you can only cut off the ends, but at any point you can "Split Video" and then trim the ends of both new segments. Do this repeatedly throughout the video gives the same result as cutting out the unwanted parts.

VS 9.0 is a very good program, but fails in one area-editing. Control is poor and results unpredictable. Try VideoRedo for a good editor.

  10. I know there are other editors that are more powerful than Ulead, but I'm comfortable with it. You guys answered my questions anyway. I've been using VirtualDub to do fades and cuts, but now I can easily accomplish everything in Ulead.
