FCP has been acting very strangely lately... If I have my camcorder plugged in via Firewire and turned on with FCP open, FCP locks up, but immediately returns to normal once I power off the camera.
Also, if I have the camera plugged in and turned on when I launch FCP, FCP locks up yet again.
Weird?
This didn't start happening until a few days ago.

Some how the FCP setting for "Control FW Capture devices" got enabled in Preferences?
Check there....
that would be my guess why...."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

Where exactly is this setting? Everything seems to look alright, from what I can tell.... Thanks.

under audio/video settings,
look at the Device Control Presets Tab.
make sure the device is setup with the correct protocols,
and that the device control preset is correct for the camera.
if not, you may need to setup a non-controllable device preset."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."
