I have a cyberhome sc300 and I was trying to play a dvd-rw that I recorded in the other room with my pioneer 531H. The cyberhome would not recognize the disk. I finalized the disk before I got it from the pioneer. Did I do something wrong?

    thanks

My dad's old Cybercrap machine has serious compatibity issues as well. I think so far he has paid more for gas to take it to the shop(who then sends it out for repair) than he paid for the recorder.

    OOPS....it's a player....never mind....

Maybe it doesn't like rewritable DVD. I have an old Apex player that won't even try to play DVD+RW or DVD-RW. If you feel that the player should play DVD-RW discs (maybe the manual says it supports it), it could be your brand of media. Try a higher quality media like Verbatim. Lots of DVD players are fussy about media, with some brands working better in some players than others.

I could be mistaken, but I thought I read somewhere that the Pioneer units utilize some sort of encryption. There are other posts here about DVD's burned in the Pioneers not working in any other players.
