  1. Hi guys,

I hope this is the appropriate forum to post.

I had fun writing for my own usage a little tool capable of extracting some info from an AVI file, and that can compute the correct width and height to apply for an AVI to DVD encoding, after removing possible black bars from the source and if needed forcing the aspect ratio (for badly stretched AVI).

Here is a capture screen that should be (hopefully!) self explanatory.

Now, I don't know if this could be interesting for the community, or if it is just my very own contraption among a gazillion of similar ones. I'm too newbie to know that

I would be happy to contribute with this little tool if it is somehow useful. And I'm open for suggestions. Please let me know.

    Cheers.

Technicaly, it's one among gazillions, but there's a few suggestions...

    1) Needs a preview of the AVI, see if you can load a couple frames so people can SEE where the crop will occur. Draw a border, even.

    2) Need a output previe too, just a preview, but actual sized. Clearly it won't show with correct aspect ratio on the PC, but that's a different problem.

    3) Put up/down arrows on all the numeric fields.

    4) Someone else can probably correct me, but AFAIK, 16:9 is NOT necessarily Anamorphic, and vice versa.

    5) FitCD already does all this, and even does block optimizations.

  3. I wrote it because I couldn't find anything close, obviously I didn't search at the right place

FitCD seem really interesting. Thanks for the link !
