filtering audio

i want to remove background noise or music that is on a SPEECH audio file i have whats the best program to help me with this, ie filter out as much as possible to leave just the audio.

Depending on how perfect you want the results, you could spend a LOT of time and money. Goldwave has a noise reduction filter, & there's a more expensive plug-in available from Sony that should get you in the ball park, though remember that the more noise you take out, the more good audio you'll lose too. It's usually best to do more passes at low settings then one at full power.
