  1. I've read through some of these forums but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. This will be my first time burning with my dvd burner so I'm not exactly sure what I need to do.

I've got 3 mpg files that I'd like to burn to a dvd so I can watch them on a standalone dvd player. I'm not trying to join the files together or anything but I'd like to get them so that when I click next on the dvd player to go to the next chapter it will go to the next mpg file. I know I need to convert the files to some other kind of files so that Nero will recognize them and be able to burn them. What program would you reccomend for converting the files and how would I go about this to make sure it all works right? thanks.

If your mpegs are dvd ready then you can just author and burn using something like TMPGEnc DVD Author. It will give an error message if your mpegs are not ready for DVD. TDA will make your menus and will burn to disk as well. Lots of guides for TDA when you click on the link.

If your mpegs are not DVD ready then you need to re-encode, which is a whole other topic.

Look at What is DVD ? (top left corner of this page). It explains what the compliant resolutions and formats are for DVD. Now use the latest version of G-Spot (current beta version) to see if your mpegs are indeed compliant. G-Spot can be found in the Tools section.
