  5. 7-zip can also open RAR archives, and unlike WinRAR (which is trialware), is completely free.

    Hey Non-linear...

    7-zip looks interesting. Can I create self-extracting zipped files in 7-zip that will self-extract on any other computer not running 7-zip? I know it seems obvious, but I am just checking.

To repeat what HillJack said, you can create a self extracting 7-zip archive with the 7-zip program; it's very easy to do, especially if you enable the shell extensions, which will allow you to right click on the file(s) or folder(s) you want to archive. All you have to do to make it self extracting is check the "create SFX archive" option.
