  1. Hi,

I have a question please about using Nero’s DVD-Video/Multichannel Plug-in, i have nero ultra 7 and it says that its included, and i have already bought a license and activated this plugin through the setup manager, but i'd like to know how can i use it?

I ran nero vision as usual to create dvds from avi files but i can't see any new option, and in video options i can only select pal or ntsc , i can't see any new option there or anything.

can you please help me by telling how to use this plugin?

Thank you very much in advance

I can't even find mention of it on their site. Are you sure it is for creating 5.1 audio, and not simply to allow burning 5.1 audio if it exists ?

For your needs it's pretty much about the audio. With ver.6 OEM versions (crippled) that where supplied with many burners the video part came into play as MPEG-2/DVD Encoding/Decoding and MPEG-2/SVCD Encoding/Decoding were not available.

Your plug-in will now give you more audio options. With NVE3 you go to More-> Video Options-> DVD-Video and use the Audio pulldown to choose what you want/need.

Does it actually upmix, or just tag the stream as 5.1 ?
And if it does upmix, whats the quality ?

  6. Thank you MysticE, I thought that it will allow me to author videos that will work on any dvd player no matter if its NTSC or PAL, is that right?

    Thanks once again

It appears to actually upmix. I occasionally get NTSC music vids with PCM audio. NVE very quickly converts to DD5.1 at 448 kb/s which sounds more solid at least, than it's DD2 at 192kb/s.

It will and quite easily actually (except in my version, NVE3, no subtitles or original menus). You can use the Import Disc option or load the individual files/VOBs. You can actually mix PAL and NTSC VOBs, mpegs and AVIs into one project if you like. Do note that the folks here are not fond of the way Nero does this. PAL to NTSC conversions work best. Try one and see if the results suit your needs.
