  1. people, i am planning to author a DVD for one of my clients, and his requirement are - multiple menus, 4-layered background, video in the background, heavy video files, animated interactive menus, a lot of links, and hell lot of interactivity...pls can anyone enlighten me on which software would be the best for this??

i tried sonic scenarist, but the setup said that i need the hardware encoders (sd 2000 / cinemaster / matrox parhelia)..is there any other software which would offer me complexities, without having to install a new card??

    pls!!! pls help me!!

ps : if anyone has seen the DVD of 'Lord of the rings', i want to have the same interactivity as in that DVD. - thanks, Suhrud

    You will need

    1. A good video editor (Premiere, Vegas etc)
    2. A motion graphics tool (After Effects, Combustion)
    3. An mpeg encoder (CCE, Procoder 2)
    4. A good authoring package (DVD Lab Pro, DVD Workshop 2)
    5. A good stills editor (Photoshop)
    6. Plenty of time and patience

Agree with guns1inger, except #2. You don't need a motion graphics tool if you have a good editor like Premiere. The only exeption would be if you need 3D objects. Then a 3D app will come in handy.

You do need a lot skill and determination, not to mention creativity.
