Hey,
I have a very silly doubt..It is about VHS tapes...Now, is there anything called a "PAL/SECAM TAPE" or "NTSC TAPE" or is it just any other tape wherein the FORMAT of the content (MEANING NTSC OR PAL) is what matters.I live in a region which uses PAL/SECAM..i want to send something to the US wherein the format is NTSC.I would like to know whether i can just buy some tape here and have the content recorded onto it in NTSC format..Will it play properly in the US? Is there anything that i need to keep in mind?
please throw some light on this...am pretty confused...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...Thankyou for your time....
cheers,
mad...![]()

The VHS tapes themselves are the same. The format is the only difference. If it's recorded on a VHS video tape with a NTSC recorder, it should be compatible.
BTW, this isn't capturing. Moving you. -
hey thanks,
NTSC RECORDER?? meaning the capture card compatiblity? How can i check it? I would be using a CANOPUS card to record the tapes..Is it compatible... this is the first time iam dealing with VHS tapes..so please bear with the questions...
Just one doubt..Why is that i see a small print which says PAL/SECAM on the cover of the tape? that is what confused me....

I found this page: http://www.high-techproductions.com/video1.htm and this may be why the labeling is different. The length of the tape is different with that label. It is apparently shorter than a standard NTSC tape. The tape itself will be the same, though. As long as your video will fit, no difference otherwise, as far as I can tell.

That link was very helpful on the PAL/SECAM topic.
WISH YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR AHEAD...
