  1. I recently switched to Winavi V6.2 to convert avi files to VCD mainly because it's a lot quicked than TMPGEnc but for some reason I'm having problems now. Whenever I convert a 700MB avi file to Non-Standard VCD to fit onto one disc (be it 700, 750 or 800MB) I always end up with two Mpeg files.....one that is ~700MB and another that is ~36MB. Basically it is cutting ~5 minutes off of the end of the video and creating a different file. I attempted to join the 2 Mpegs in TMPGEnc but it keeps giving me an error saying the second (smaller) file has no video associated with it even though they both play in Windows Media Player. Does any idea as to why Winavi is doing this? Thanks in advance.

    i find it super odd
but at times i find that even the 2 split files can still fit on the svcd

    but still very odd

  3. Well low and behold I'm back to revisit this issue.
I'm currently using WinAVI v6.3 and still getting the same problem when converting an .avi to non-standard VCD. I set the output to 750MB and one disc and after it converts I'm still left with 2 Mpeg's....one that is exactly 750Mb and another that is ~50MB or so (the last few minutes of the movie) with video but no audio. The reason I'm using this software is because it is extremely fast and the quality is good as well but it would be nice if it just made the one file with both video and audio. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    have you tried winavi 7?

but i would get a faster mpeg1 encoder than tmpgenc like mainconcept mpeg encoder instead of using allinone tools.

  5. No I haven't tried v7 but I've tried several other versions all with the same problem....will try it and report back.
I use TMPGenc with a one-disc template and it works great but it is very slow compared to WinAVI.
I also use mainconcept but I can't adjust the output size like I can with the other 2 as I like to keep the Mpeg's small enough to fit onto one CD-R.
    Thanks for the reply.
