Well, I have Toast 7 but when I use Toast's Video encoding, the Video ends up all blocky looking. So I tried FFmpegx and the Video compression is much better, so I burned the VIDEO_TS file in Toast. But when I popped it into my DVD Player, the sound file cuts in and out. The "Dolby Digital" sign flashes on my DVD player. And whenever the "Dolby Digital" sign in on, I get audio (and it matches the screen.)
So I'm thinking that I'm not choosing the right compression.
I've chosen: AC3 (Dolby Digital), CBR, 192 KB/S, 48000 Mhz, 5.1 Channel
On a different note, when I burn VCDs in Toast, the audio does not play properly in my DVD player either. it all, stuttery like really really bad interference.

Okay, I've tried other ways to the same result.
I've extracted the sound to AIFF file 48K, 24 bit. Then I re-encoded using FFmpegx to AC3, Stereo, 48K, 192 kb/s I've also tried it by converting to mp2.
I muxed the files with my mpv video, put it into sizzle and created Disk image. Toasted it, and the same result.
I then tried in sizzle choosing the mpv file for video and the AC3 or MP2 file for audio. When I tried to add the AC3 or MP2 file for audio, it said that the file is not correct...it's not 48K and may not work in DVD players.
I've tried so many times, but still the audio cuts in an out when I play from the DVD player...obviously it worked fine on computer. AAAHHH!!!! I'm very confused! -
So that was my Pioneer DV525 player with audio cuts in and out. I tried to play it in my crappy cheapo APEX player and the sound is fine, but the Video is not consistent. So is this an Audio/Video sync issue? I'm inclined to think that the audio file is not encoded correctly.

I have a similar machine (JVC though) - have you tried a straight burn of the file using the DATA tab in Toast.
I was encountering similar problems with AVIs etc, but found not encoding and doing a straight to CD-R burn worked a treat. You need to select the dvd-rom option in that tab, it's Toast 7, and updated QT to 7.0.4
Hope this helps... -

Would a straight burn play on my DVD though? I don't think the problem is with Sizzle. I think it's ffmpegx. I use that to convert the audio and no matter what setting I put it, the result is always the same =( I'm trying Moviegate right now. I think it's okay...but the first time through I forgot to switch to NTSC.
