  1. I'm looking for some software that reads PAL format and writes in NTSC format.

All the programs I tried (DVD decrypter, Clone DVD, DVD Copy, DVD Shrink...) reads a DVD title in PAL format and burns another DVD, but the output is still in PAL, and the output is unreadable with a DVD player unless it has its own PAL/NTSC converter, like Daewoo's.

What I like to know is the way to convert PAL into NTSC without compromising video quality or file size, by using software, then burn a DVD by using either of the above burner software. The input file format is either in VOB or ISO, and the output must be VOB files.

Conversion between video standards on a computer is NOT EASY. Please write that down on a Post-It note and place it on your computer monitor.

If that software existed then the company would make a fortune. As far as I'm aware simply putting a PAL DVD into a drive, ripping it and then letting the software convert it to an NTSC DVD ready to burn just is not possible

Read the guides, there are ways to convert PAL to NTSC and also NTSC to PAL using just software, but it is not just a simple one software method

The easiest and simplest approach is to buy a DVD player that will play PAL and NTSC DVD's

There are several applications to do this .. tmpgenc for example ... however this is a long and tedious proccess and as with any re-encoding there will always be a certain amount of quality loss (how much will depend on the settings used ... but there will always be some loss) the best advice is that given by steptoe in the above post ... buy a player that can play both pal and ntsc ... players are very cheap these days ... you can probably buy a player for a similar price as you will pay for the software to do converting .... so you gain on saving numerous hours spent converting and you wont suffer quality loss
