I want to get a dvd burner, but I would like to hear which ones are getting the best reviews. Can anyone let me know what they think of theirs? Also, I was under the impression that dvd+r, +rw were compatible in most standalones....is this not true?....is a dvd-r,-rw burner the 'right' thing to get? How compatiable are dvd-r,-rw?
Any help would be appreciated.

I dunno if it's a good time to buy because their is no one unified standard.
DVD-R has the backing of the DVD consoritum who makes all DVD-Video and a good number of companies. It is quite compatible n will play on most DVD players. Some legacy n first generations won't play it. DVD-R apparently plays better.
DVD-RAM isn't worth the effort to turn ur head n look. It plays on like 1% of standalones n is backed by like one company.
DVD+RW is new, is suposed to be less compatible than DVD-R.
Notes:
1.) All these formats will apparently read each other.
2.) All these formats will not write to each other.
So u see, wait till prices come down n their is a unified standard./
