I found out that it would be easier to just convert my avi files to svcd to creat a video cd to play on my dvd player.
is there any shareware or freeware that will help me do this? ffmpegX is acting weird whenever I try to convert to svcd, it will download to fast and my newly converted files are no where to be found on my hard disk.
    please help

What's easiest is to buy a cheap Divx-capable DVD player and just burn the AVIs as ISO 9660 Data CDs, presuming the AVI's contain Divx-encoded video.

    honestly i agree.
Toast offers a avi-svcd step. but its not free. But its very much worth the investment as it can do most conversions and is about the most kick ass burning software on the market.
