I have home movies on DVD-RW recorded on a LG recorder in VR Mode.
VR Mode generates the following folder DVD_RTAV with files VR_MANGR.IFO and VR_MOVIE.VRO.

The DVD developed an error so I used Isobuster to recover the DVD to my harddrive.
I can now play the movies using PowerDVD with no problems.

However, when I try extract them to mpegs using TMPGEnc DVD Author, the first title generates the following error: "this is an illegal video file". The other titles convert to mpeg no problem.

How can I convert/recover the first title?

    how is the file illegal?
That's the message I get from TMPGEnc DVD Author.
I haven't a clue why the file is illegal or how to check why it is illegal.
    Where do I start?

I have posted a few questions on these forums and they have always had very quick and helpful responses, except in this case. Nothing, nanna, zip, zilch!

So recently I tried again to solve the problem myself.
I tried several of the freeware apps available here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=111#111.
None of them worked until I tried DGMPGDec. Absolutely brilliant little app. Not only does it open .ts files, it soldiered on through the file I rescued using Isobuster (another brilliant piece of software).
