Hi
Im totally new to the whole area. I just purchased a Sony Handycam CCD-trv238e camcorder, which runs on Hi8 media. I beleive this is an analog media, so to get the videos onto my computer, I must use a capture card capable of capturing analog signals.
I have a budget of about £80-100. Can anyone help me out here. I'm looking at the specs on these cards and really haven't a clue.
cheers

Read to the left under "How To"..... "Capture". Tons of reading for you.

This will depend on how much work you wanna do, and if you're a patient learner..
For fastest results, and least headache, look for a standalone recorder, or a capture device that support Mpeg2 conversion..Basically, it converts your analogue signal to DVD specs..
or....
Capture to a looser format like .AVI or .MOV, and learn about compression, video editing, conversion to Mpeg2, authouring, and burning..
Choose your path, and then we'll help.. -
