Hey guys,
I just started transferring several miniDV tapes via the firewire connection to my Canon Optura 20 and things were going just fine. The issue I have is that I haven't figured out how to get the darn AVI file that is generated to be named what I want it to... something other than "Tape1.avi" or whatever. During the capture process, the clips generated and resultant AVI files are being saved to my RippedVideo directory. When I name a particular collection, it doesn't name the AVI file the same name... it just keeps it as "Tape1.avi". To work around this, I just used Explorer and renamed the AVI file to the name I wanted.... but this caused all of the Clips in that collection to become invalid now that the source path was no longer C:\RippedVideo\Tape1.avi.
So the short question is... how the heck can I specify a name for the captured AVI file BEFORE I record to disk from the camcorder. If this isn't possible, how can I rename the AVI file after the capture process and have it reflected in the details in a given Collection in WMM?
Thanks,
Jeff

Ugh... turned out to be a real dumb thing that I missed. Evidently at some point I had checked to "auto generate" the output files. Once I unchecked that, as soon as the capture finishes, a dialgue box appears so you can name the file as you see fit.
Jeff = goober.
Thanks,
Jeff
